Sydney Theatre Company has made a number of necessary changes to the remainder of the 2020 Season that will impact all shows and all ticket holders.
If you are a ticket booker for any of the remaining 2020 productions at Roslyn Packer Theatre, please await your direct update on next steps very soon. We greatly appreciate your patience while our Box Office Teams work through each schedule change as promptly as possible.
It’s also important to note that this updated schedule is subject to change. As you can appreciate, it’s a complex challenge to produce live theatre in this period of uncertainty and we will continue to monitor government requirements and advice that may necessitate further changes to the performance schedule.
Wonnangatta, 21 Sep – 31 Oct
Wonnangatta will be performed under the current “one person per four square metre” social distancing requirement in force in NSW. For this reason, the season as programmed in the Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House has been cancelled; and the show will instead be performed at Roslyn Packer Theatre from 21 Sep – 31 Oct.
In order to comply with current government social distancing requirements, the capacity of the auditorium has been reduced from 880 seats per night to an audience of 147. This means that we are unable to accommodate all ticket holders for the Sydney Opera House season. We will aim to accommodate as many ticket holders as possible, noting that many people may not yet wish to venture back to the theatre by September.
Everyone who booked tickets to Wonnangatta will be provided with an automatic credit voucher. Those current ticket holders who wish to attend the performances will then be invited to book into the Roslyn Packer Theatre season on a priority basis, starting with ‘Legend’ Season Ticket Holders. Those who are not ready to come back to the theatre will be offered the opportunity to retain the credit voucher, receive a refund or donate the value of the ticket back to the company. More detailed information will be provided to the person who made the booking.
The Picture of Dorian Gray
At this point in time, The Picture of Dorian Gray is still to be staged later this year. As social distancing requirements have a significant effect on seating, we are monitoring government requirements and will announce further details and dates for these productions closer to the time.
Fun Home, The Wharf Revue 2020 and A View from the Bridge – cancelled
Unfortunately, Fun Home, The Wharf Revue 2020 and A View from the Bridge have had to be cancelled. We apologise for any disappointment this causes and anticipate these shows will be staged in 2021. If you are a ticket holder for these productions, we will be in direct contact with the person who made your booking about your ticket return options shortly.
We have been working to ensure a safe and comfortable experience at the theatre for our audience, artists and staff and have implemented a range of stringent new health and safety measures, including: mandatory masks for audience members and staff, increased cleaning of public spaces, upgraded air conditioning, hand sanitiser stations and processes to reduce congestion in foyer areas. You can view a comprehensive outline of our COVID-19 health and safety measures here.
We greatly appreciate your patience, support, and understanding
